Vaginal Rejuvination

Two major events in a woman’s life can lead to a decline in vaginal health:

Childbirth stretches the vaginal canal and surrounding tissue. The vagina can mostly be repaired by the body’s own healing response. With many women, however, the tissue may not return to the same state as before childbirth. This stretching damages the vaginal walls, perineum and surrounding tissues, which often leads to diminished vaginal health and function.

Menopause and other events such as a hysterectomy, chemotherapy or the process of breast-feeding, may lead to reduced estrogen production by the ovaries and may often lead to thinning, drying and inflammation of the vaginal walls. For many women, this may decrease healthy vaginal function.

Introducing DiVa™Laser Vaginal Therapy

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Who is an ideal candidate for the treatment?
    • Women that have had children or are experiencing menopause may be interested in a resurfacing treatment to improve the quality of their vaginal tissue.
  • How long does a procedure take?
    • DiVa’s ergonomic design allows for patient comfort and ease of use. Each treatment takes 3 to 5 minutes to fractionally resurface the full length of a vaginal canal.
  • How many treatments are recommended?
    • Patients may choose between 1 and 3 procedures spaced every 4 weeks apart, followed by 1 treatment every 6 – 12 months
  • What do patients experience during the treatment?
    • Patients will experience a slight pressure against the vaginal wall during laser resurfacing. The treatment is fast with minimal discomfort. Some patients may experience increased sensitivity near the vaginal opening.
  • What do patients experience in the 48 hours following the treatment?
    • Patients may return to their daily routine with minimal to no discharge, spotting, or discomfort; however, they should avoid sexual intercourse for up to 48 hours.
  • Is there a disposable?
    • Yes, the single-use SQD not only expands the vaginal tissue to provide greater treatment area but also eliminates the time it would take to clean the handpiece between treatments.
  • Is sedation necessary?
    • No, the laser resurfacing treatment is fast, easy and completed in an outpatient setting. A topical anesthetic may be applied to increase patient comfort but is not necessary.
  • What kind of Post Treatment Care is needed?
    • You may return to your normal daily routine, including bathing or showering
    • Immediately after treatment, you will be given a pad to wear. The DiVa hybrid fractional laser therapy may produce pinpoint bleeding in the area of the micro laser channels. This thin, reddish-pink discharge usually subsides in 24-48 hours. Typically, only one to two pads in the course of this time are needed.
    • Some patients may experience mild cramping up to 24-48 hours.
    • Refrain from sexual intercourse for up to 48 hours.
    • Refrain from douching for 48 hours. Allow natural release of discharge.
    • Typically, over the counter oral pain relievers are not needed.
    • Gentle use of bath tissue is recommended to reduce any sensitivity to the area.
    • Though typically unnecessary, you may use a cold compress, if desired.
    • Though not frequent, itching may be experienced during the healing phase and is completely normal. Oral Benadryl may help the itching, but can cause drowsiness. DO NOT scratch the treated area, as complications can occur.
